Satiate your casual side at Rise, where we feature the doughnut with a French pedigree and experience a part of America’s culinary history. The beignet (pronounced “ben-yay”) originated in France and came to the United States around the time of the Civil War via the New Orleans open-air food market. It was originally a peasant children’s treat, made at the end of the day from scraps of leftover dough, and topped with confectioner’s sugar. The creative team at Rise has taken that simple idea, perfected the recipe, added a few tempting twists, and is now pleased to bring this delicious, innovative comfort food to Davenport!
